I thought I would do something fun in the spirit of the Halloween holiday.. This shoot I did just a few months after starting photography. In the beginning of the journey, I was experimenting a lot with what I wanted to photograph. I tried all sorts of genres that involved people. One that I hadn’t tried: girlfriend/lesbian-punk.
We wanted to do something edgy and the models really loved how it all started forming! So we decided on a girlfriend/lesbian-punk theme and, they had quite the wardrobe ready to go! They chatted with each other and would share wardrobe or props. The level of enthusiasm and teamwork was and is a whole other level that I normally experience. It’s a long story how we came to that arrival….
Perry, the blonde, was with Ford Models in their ‘Plus’ division in San Francisco. When they used to have an agency there. Aiesha was a local, fine-art model whose work I really liked and wanted to work with.

I also have to give a special shout-out to Lauren Warner, the makeup artist and hair stylist. She can truly do it all. She worked at a very high-level and it shows. I think her style tends to lean on the dramatic and she was perfect for this shoot. I can always tell when she worked on a shoot of mine.
I say this maybe too often, but it was one of my best and favorite shoots! The energy. The enthusiasm. I mean, that’s a huge part of doing a great shoot. Talent (from everyone), skill and such. Important. But when everyone is enthusiastic, on the same page and wanting to do their best, truly, great things happen. I look at the pics and still feel the incredible energy that was present!
